Digital Creator Francesca Saffari on Handbag Trends for this Joyful Summer
10 May 2024
You might recognise Francesca Saffari from our recent #RadleyintheShowroom Instagram Live event. Or from her oh-so-stylish social media presence. We caught up with the fashion expert to find out which Radley London handbags she’s been loving this month. And the trends she’s predicting will be big.
Tell us a little bit about how you plan to wear each bag.
“I’ve styled Sunny Rise with a day to night look, the shape and style of the bag makes it the perfect evening bag and would be great for a hen do or a night out. The drawstring closure is a trend I’ve seen on the catwalks, I’m excited to finally get my hands on it.”
“Dukes Place is my idea of a perfect weekend bag; the size means you can fit a lot in it if you’re going out shopping and the shoulder bag style goes well with a chill-out outfit. You can tell how beautifully crafted this bag is, it’s one I’ll have in my wardrobe for years.”
“Peregrine Road in Butterscotch would make a perfect festival bag. The colour goes so well with denim and can be worn cross body and tied tightly, which is great for when you’re dancing and walking around a lot. It’s made in a mixture of grained leather with smooth leather trims that will only get better with use, so I know it’s up to the job.”
“With Peregrine Road, the bucket bag is such an on-trend shape that everyone needs in their wardrobe.”
What do you love most about these bags?
“I love the size of Dukes Place, and the rectangular shape adds an interesting twist to a minimal everyday outfit. The Jade green colour is one I’ve been wanting to incorporate into my wardrobe.
“With Peregrine Road, the bucket bag is such an on-trend shape that everyone needs in their wardrobe. I love the Butterscotch colour, it’s a lovely point of difference from a black bag while still being a versatile neutral. And goes really well with the bold, colourful prints that are in style right now.
“And the shape of Sunny Rise is really unique, the pleating shows off the incredibly soft leather and adds some interesting detail to evening or wedding guest outfits.”
Radley London tip:
Our London Design Studio chose to make Sunny Rise in super soft lamb nappa, because of the way it gathers and pleats. The look is completed with faux suedette lining, shiny gold hardware and Scottie dog key fob.
Which key handbag trends should we look out for this season?
“For summer I love the basket and bucket bag trends as they give me big holiday energy. I’m loving all the colourful bags this season as it adds a pop to neutral summery outfits.”
Radley London tip:
Want to get in on the basket bag trend? We recommend Knox Gardens.
Where in London are you looking forward to spending your Joyful Summer?
“I’m looking forward to spending some sunny days in Brockwell Park and enjoying lots of BBQs with friends.”
Sounds perfect to us, Francesca.
