Crafting Party Pals: Our Christmas Picture Bag 2023

We’re kicking off the party season in true Radley London style. With a new handcrafted collectible. Capturing a moment of festive celebrations in beautiful, luxe leathers and artisan techniques, it has to be our Christmas picture bag.
This time of year, it’s all about having fun and that’s certainly what the members of our talented Design Team were doing when they created Party Pals. One of those is Sophie, who tells us all about the inspiration behind this design.
“When creating our Christmas picture bag, we were thinking about all the festive parties that take place. It’s when everyone is getting together with friends and family, dressing up and having fun.”
That’s why this decorative scene takes place in a glamorous ballroom inside Hotel Radley. Our Scottie is making a big entrance at the top of the grand staircase, as his four-legged friends party on the chequerboard dance floor below.
From these appliqué characters to the metallic foil-effect leathers, (just like those you’ll find in our October Edit) this collectible handbag is brought to life with lots of our signature craftsmanship techniques. Sophie mentions just a few of her favourites:
“We went all out with the details, adding two-tone handles and bold pops of Amethyst purple and Poinsettia red from this season’s colour palette. And of course, there’s lots of appliqué. Each individual panel has been cut and sewn in place by our talented artisans.”
That’s 40 pieces of leather appliqué to be exact, plus 21 screen prints. With all these intricate details, it takes up to eight hours to create the front panel for just one Party Pals bag.
We love talking about the crafted details that bring every picture bag to life, but the three signature compartments deserve some attention too. Not only do they give you the space to carry every festive party essential (your make-up and even a few Secret Santa gifts), but they’ll keep them organised too.
