Make Every Day a Vacation with our New June Edit
14 July 2023
Even if you’re sipping on a cup of tea instead of an Aperol Spritz. And watching the world go by from a train window instead of a beach lounger. Make every day feel like you’re holidaying somewhere picture perfect with our Summer designs.
Our London Design Studio want to take you on a trip around the globe this season, so let’s find out where we are in June, plus the details they can’t wait to show you.
We’re sensing a lavender theme – in the colour palette and on Postcards Edition Two. What inspired this?
Zizi: These designs are your ticket to the South of France.
Lucy: I love that you can almost smell the scent of lavender in the air when looking at our new Postcards Edition Two of Book Street.
(Read all about the collectible Postcards designs here.)
Sophie: We know that everyone loved the Lavender designs from our Spring collection, so we’re delighted to bring it back for Summer on amazing styles such as Hanley Close.
How would you describe this month’s colour palette?
Lucy: Everything ties in with Lavender, think soft, pretty and feminine. Prairie Pink and Chalk are always incredibly popular so we wanted to bring them back at this time of year as a little break from the bright shades you might associate with summertime.
Alice: They’re all very easy to wear too, we were thinking of the handbags you’d want to pack for a holiday that need to work hard and pair with lots of outfits. We’re always thinking of those baggage allowances!
Speaking of packing our bags, tell us about the details on Luggage Lane.
Liz: Doesn’t Luggage Lane immediately remind you of a vintage trunk? I didn’t work on this one so when I saw the first sample I fell in love.
Lucy: The stamps at the front tie in with some of the key themes from our Summer collection – that lemon stamp is a hint about some really exciting designs coming in July.
Alice: Even though it’s quite a small ‘trunk’, I’ll definitely be fitting a mini sun cream and a deck of cards in there for my holidays. I think it would be so fun to take on a city break.
What was the inspiration behind the weave on Sundown Avenue?
Alice: It’s another very summer-themed answer. The weave is based on old-fashioned picnic baskets, and although you won’t fit a baguette into Sundown Avenue, it is such a pretty handbag for taking to any occasion this season.
Liz: I’m planning to take it to at least two weddings I’ll be attending. It goes with every kind of outfit; I love the versatility.
Lucy: You need to see this one up close to admire the stitch detailing on that chunky weave. And the chain strap adds that ‘dressed up’ twist.
What’s your favourite bag from this month, and where do you wish you were taking it?
Alice: I would love to take Baylis Road 2.0 Colour Block on an Italian city break. It would look so chic with jeans and a floaty white shirt, taking care not to spill my glass of wine on my white shirt of course.
Lucy: I wish Sundown Avenue in Lavender had been available when I went on a big holiday recently to Mauritius. It would have gone with all my outfits.
Sophie: I love our little bowling bag, Bexley Street Cabana. I could see myself strolling along a beach, bringing our Scottie mascot along for the adventure.
Liz: Hillgate Place Chain in Prairie Pink would be perfect for evenings out on holiday. I love when you’ve been sitting in the sun all day, then come back to your room to get all glammed up for a nice dinner out.
Zizi: There’s nothing like a little shoulder bag to dress up a casual summer outfit, so I’ll be carrying Hanley Close in Birch everywhere with me.
Thank you, Design Team. We’re off to dream about our next holiday (and the bags we’ll be taking).
